Beaver Bank man charged following robbery

News release

A Beaver Bank man has been charged following a robbery where he demanded hydromorphone at a business in Lower Sackville.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. yesterday morning, Halifax District RCMP received a hold up alarm from the business, which is located on the 600 block of Sackville Drive.

Upon arriving at the scene, a preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect entered the business, confronted an employee and demanded hydromorphone pills. The employee feared that the suspect may have a weapon as he was keeping one hand in his pocket. After receiving a quantity of hydromorphone pills, the suspect fled the store.

A witness provided a description of the suspect and his direction of travel, which assisted police in identifying him. He was arrested without incident during a traffic stop in Dartmouth.

John Charles Auld, 32, has been charged with Robbery and Wearing a Mask While Committing an Indictable Offence.

He was remained into custody and will be appearing in Dartmouth Provincial Court on April 10 at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division. Halifax Regional Police K-9 unit assisted with the search.
