Stunting driver charged: 56 km/hr over the posted speed limit

A member of Pictou District RCMP was conducting regular patrols on Three Brooks Rd. on April 2 near 3 p.m., when he stopped a vehicle travelling at 136 km/h in a 80 km/h zone, 56 km/hr above the posted speed limit. The 19-year-old male driver from Pictou was charged with stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act. The vehicle was seized, towed and his driver's licence was suspended for seven days. The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50.

Nova Scotia RCMP want to remind the public that speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads. Road Safety is a priority for the RCMP, and drivers are reminded to make it their priority as well.
