Springhill man charged with Aggravated Assault

On September 1 at 8:47 p.m., Cumberland District RCMP was alerted that there was a man at the hospital in Springhill who had stab wounds in his back and neck. He refused to tell police what had happened to him.

RCMP officers investigated, and they found that a second man had been seriously injured following an altercation with the first injured man. He disclosed that the suspect, Revere Ruddick, 64, of Springhill, had beaten him with a guitar, resulting in broken bones in his face and arm, and a fractured skull. The victim used a knife to defend himself.

Police arrested Ruddick for Aggravated Assault on September 2. He was charged, held in custody, and appeared in Amherst Provincial Court on September 4. He has been remanded and is scheduled to return to court on September 7. The victim remains in hospital.
