Environment Canada issues a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for parts of Nova Scotia
Environment Canada has issued a Severe thunderstorm WATCH for the following counties:
Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Halifax County - east of Porters Lake
Colchester County - Truro and south
Colchester County - Cobequid Bay
Colchester County North
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.
A line of thunderstorms from Lunenburg County northeast to Prince Edward Island is giving heavy downpours locally above 25 mm/h. The line is moving slowly east. There may also be some gusty winds associated.
Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
