Mobile primary care clinics in Yarmouth March 7 and March 20
Nova Scotia Health is holding mobile primary care clinics in Yarmouth on March 7 and March 20.
Harbour South Medical Centre, Yarmouth
235 Main Street
Thursday, March 7 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Wednesday, March 20 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
These clinics are drop-in clinics and not a substitute for your primary care provider (doctor or nurse practitioner). People are encouraged to call their primary care provider first to see if they have same-day appointments available.
In a release, the Nova Scotia Health Authority said, "The clinic can only address non-urgent, low-acuity health issues and is not an emergency service. See a list of the types of concerns below if you are not sure where to go.
Types of concerns that may be addressed at the mobile primary care clinic include:
• Prescription refills or renewals (except for controlled substances)
• Minor respiratory symptoms
• Sore throat
• Earaches
• Fever
• Headache
• Rashes
• Minor gastrointestinal concerns (vomiting and diarrhea)
• Cough, flu, or cold symptoms
• Urinary tract infections
• Muscle pain
Lab and diagnostic imaging requisitions will not be part of this clinic."
Clinic attendees should have their health card and a list of medications ready upon arrival. People attending the clinic will be asked the reason for their visit to ensure the clinic is able to treat their concern. If the clinic can help, the attendee will be screened for acute viral respiratory infection and given an approximate appointment time.
