At approximately 11:45 p.m. officers responded to a report of a single vehicle crash in the 6000 block of Bayers Road.
Millbrook RCMP charge man after report of shots fired
Millbrook RCMP has charged a Millbrook man with firearm offences after an incident on Feb. 21, 2023.
In a release, police say that shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Feb. 21, Millbrook RCMP, assisted by a police dog team, responded to a report of shots being fired near the intersection of Fern Drive and Abenaki Road in Millbrook First Nation.
Officers responding to the scene located damage, consistent with that of gunshots, at a home on Abenaki Road. Police say no one at the residence suffered injuries in the incident.
Investigators received information that an unwanted man with a firearm entered a home on Fern Drive. Officers located a 35-year-old Millbrook man in the residence and safely arrested him.
Police say that officers located and seized a handgun during a search of the home.
Albert Roy Jr. Francis, 35, has been charged with:
• Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Weapon or Restricted;
• Possession of Prohibited Weapon or Device Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized;
• Careless Use of Firearm;
• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose;
• Tampering with a Serial Number;
• Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition;
• Failure to comply with a Release Order (six counts);
• Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Order (two counts);
• Discharging a Firearm while Being Reckless.
Francis was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Truro Provincial Court on Feb. 27, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
Police are continuing the investigation.
