Digby RCMP charge Roxville man in connection to fatal collision

Digby RCMP has charged a man with impaired operation of a conveyance causing death following a fatal collision that happened in December 2022.

Police say that on Dec. 22, 2022, at around 8:55 a.m., Digby RCMP, fire and EHS responded to a report of a collision on Highway 217 in Roxville.

Investigators learned that a pickup truck and a panel van were traveling in opposite directions when they collided.

The driver and sole occupant of the panel van, a 57-year-old Bayview man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck, a 35-year-old Roxville man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Police say that investigators determined that the 35-year-old man's blood alcohol content was above the legal limit at the time of the collision.

On March 16, police arrested and charged Tyler Christian Sachs with impaired operation of a conveyance causing death, and operation while phrohibited.

Sachs appeared in Digby Provincial Court on March 16 and was released on conditions.

Sachs is scheduled to reappear in court on March 21, 2023, at 9:30 a.m., to face the charges.
