Halifax police charge man with assault following incident on Vimy Avenue

Halifax Regional Police have laid several charges, including assault, in relation to an incident that took place on April 3, 2023 in Halifax.

At around 8:30 p.m. officers responded to a report of an assault at an apartment building on Vimy Avenue.

Police say that a man went to another apartment and struck the tenant with a wooden object after the tenant complained about the noise coming from his apartment.

The man allegedly fled on foot from police and assaulted two officers before being arrested.

The officers and the tenant were treated at the scene by EHS.

Dominic Caldi, 30, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on April 4 to face the following charges:
• Assaulting a peace officer (x2)
• Assault with a weapon
• Resist arrest
• Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
• Failing to comply with a release order
• Uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death
