Halifax police charge two men with firearms offences

Halifax Regional Police charged two men concerning a firearms investigation and search on Jan. 23, 2024, in Halifax.

Police say that around 10:10 p.m. members of the Quick Response Unit located two men, who were wanted concerning outstanding warrants and ongoing investigations, at a hotel on Kearney Lake Road in Halifax.

According to police, officers searched the room and seized a loaded firearm and ammunition.

Police say Jeremy William Coleman, 31, and Steven Andrew Coleman, 35, were scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on Jan. 24, to face charges of:
• Possession of a firearm or prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
• Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
• Possession of a firearm without a license or certificate
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm
• Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
• Storing a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations
• Unsafe storage of a firearm
• Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a court order (x4)

Police say Steven Andrew Coleman also faces one count of failing to comply with a probation order.
