Halifax police lay charge for assault on Transit driver

Halifax Regional Police have charged a youth in connection to an incident that took place in Dartmouth earlier this month.

Police say that on June 2, 2023, at around 12:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault on a Halifax Transit driver who was traveling as a passenger on a Halifax Transit bus.

"Two youths entered the bus in the 100 block of Wyse Road and sat next to the victim. The youths began harassing the victim and then one of the youths assaulted him before both youths exited the bus and fled the area on foot," police said in a release.

Police arrested the suspect without incident in Dartmouth at around 10:50 a.m. on June 13.

A 16-year-old youth is scheduled to appear in court to face one count of assault causing bodily harm.
