Bridgewater Police Service officers have arrested a man in connection to an outstanding warrant for possession of stolen property.

Police say that a warrant was issued on Oct. 5, 2022, for Derrick Robar concerning a stolen ATV which was recovered on Oct. 3. The ATV was stolen overnight on Aug. 27, 2022, from a location on High Street in Bridgewater.

Robar had lived in Bridgewater but was of no fixed address when the ATV was recovered in October.

RCMP in Lunenburg made two attempts to arrest Robar but he resisted arrest and fled on both occasions.

On Jan. 26, 2023, officers identified Robar on Queen Street in Bridgewater and approached him, and told him that he was under arrest. Robar resisted arrest by fleeing on foot, heading east toward King Street.

Robar ran underneath the Old Bridge with multiple officers in pursuit and positioned himself on the bridge support beams. Officers secured the area around the intersection of King Street and Old Bridge and, after a brief negotiation, Robar climbed back toward officers and was arrested.

Robar was held in custody overnight and appeared in Bridgewater Provincial Court on Jan. 27, 2023. In addition to the outstanding charges, two additional charges were also pending from his Jan. 26 attempt to flee from police.

Police are asking that anyone who has further information about this matter contact Bridgewater Police Service at 902-543-2464.
