New Glasgow Regional Police seized drugs during a traffic stop.

NEW GLASGOW, NS

On March 1, 2024, at around 9:25 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on East River Road and Marsh Street in New Glasgow.

Police say officers approached the vehicle, containing three occupants at the time of the stop, and spoke with a 31-year-old male passenger from Pictou County.

While officers attempted to secure the suspects, the front-seat passenger allegedly fled the vehicle on foot.

Additional officers were called to the scene and apprehended the 31-year-old male on MacIntosh Street.

According to police, a search of the stopped vehicle led to the seizure of open alcohol, cash, suspected fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine, knives, and drug-related paraphernalia.

The 31-year-old male, Corey Patrick Blinkhorn, was charged with:
• Three Counts of Obstruction and Resisting Arrest.
• Failing to comply with a Release Order Conditions.
• Two Counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.
• Failing to Attend Court.
• Assault Police.

Blinkhorn was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Pictou on March 4.

Police are continuing the investigation.
