Nova Scotia RCMP News

Richmond County RCMP has charged a 29-year-old man with animal cruelty after an incident in Louisdale.

In a release, police say that Richmond County District RCMP received a report of a social media post about a dog tied up in the woods in Louisdale. Officers investigated the incident and learned that a third party rescued the dog and that it was no longer out in the elements.

Police say that on Feb. 3, 2023, a Port Hawkesbury man contacted the RCMP and wanted to turn himself in for this incident. The man met with an RCMP officer at the St. Peter’s Detachment. Police released him on conditions, including that he does not possess any animals. The man turned over a second dog before his release.

Police charged Dryden George, of Port Hawkesbury, with cruelty to animals. George is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on April 24, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.

Richmond County District RCMP is working with the Nova Scotia SPCA and a local rescue organization as part of this investigation.
