NEW GLASGOW

New Glasgow police responded to a distress call on July 29 that four young children were left unattended in a hot car at a Walmart parking lot. Police discovered the children in a blue Volkswagen that had some of the windows down.

Emergency Health Services transported the three girls and one boy to the Aberdeen Hospital as a precaution. The children ranged from ages 1 to 9.

“On a very warm humid day like today, the temperature inside your vehicle becomes extremely hot, extremely fast and deadly,” said Const. Ken Macdonald in a press release. “It only takes 20 minutes for the interior of a vehicle to reach extreme temperatures–even on days that seem relatively mild.”

Police are continuing the investigation.
