Halifax police charge man for robbery on Alderney Drive

Police have charged a man in relation to a robbery that occurred the evening of June 7 in Dartmouth.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. police responded to a robbery that had just occurred in the 0-100 block of Alderney Drive. The victim was walking in the area when he was assaulted and had his backpack stolen by a man known to him. The victim was later transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

East division patrol members and a K9 team located the suspect nearby and arrested him without incident.
Devon Joseph Edwards, 23, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court June 8 to face charges of robbery, assault causing bodily harm and breach of probation.
