New Glasgow Regional Police charge six men and four women for failing to follow Public Health Orders

New Glasgow Regional Police have charged six men and four women, for violating the Health Protection Act and the Emergency Management Acts, following four separate incidents.
On May 05, 2021 at 7:30 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police received a report that a male was repeatedly not social distancing in the downtown area of New Glasgow. The male was charged under Section 71(1)(b) of the Health Protection Act for Failure to Maintain a Social Distance of 2 Meters or Six Feet. Violation of this act results in a fine of $2422.00.

On May 05, 2021 at 11:00 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police received a report of a gathering at a residence in Trenton that may be in violation of COVID-19 restrictions. NGR Police attended and upon investigation, four males and four females were charged under Section 71(1)(b) of the Health Protection Act for person failing to comply with the act or regulations limiting social gatherings to household. Violation of this act carries a penalty of $2422.00.

On May 06, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police received a report of a shoplifter at local grocery store in New Glasgow, N.S. Upon investigation the adult female was from the Mosher River, NS. area and was charged under the Emergency Management Act for Failing to comply with direction, order or requirement made under the Act/Regulations, Section 23(b), that all persons are restricted travel within their own municipality. Violation of this act carries a penalty of $697.50.

On May 06, 2021 at 7:00., New Glasgow Regional Police received a report of a shoplifter at local grocery store in New Glasgow, N.S. Upon investigation the adult male was from the Dartmouth, NS. area and was charged under the Emergency Management Act for "Failing to comply with direction, order or requirement made under the Act/Regulations, Section 23(b), that all persons are restricted travel within their own municipality. Violation of this act carries a penalty of $697.50.
