New Glasgow Regional Police investigating early-morning fire on MacLean Street

Police are investigating an early-morning fire that took place at a vacant residence on MacLean Street in New Glasgow. According to police, the fire was reported at 5:20 a.m., Sunday morning.

New Glasgow Fire Department, Trenton Fire Department, Emergency Health Services and Nova Scotia Power attended the scene.

The building sustained extensive fire and smoke damage from the blaze. MacLean Street, from Archimedes Street to Temperance Street, was temporarily closed to traffic.

In a press release, police say that the preliminary investigation has determined that the fire was intentionally set.

Police are asking for the public's help to identify anyone involved or anyone who many ave information that may assist investigators.

"As arson investigation continues, police are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any unusual or suspicious activity,” said Constable Ken Macdonald. “Any information provided may be crucial in helping solve this investigation.”
