New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit execute a search warrant in Trenton in relation to a Child Pornography Investigation

On Wednesday October 14, 2020 at approximately 8:45 a.m., New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit, Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit and H-Division Digital Forensic Services executed a search warrant on a Grandview Avenue residence in Trenton, N.S.

The search warrant has been the result of a 10-month long child pornography investigation.

As a result, a 24-year-old adult male was arrested at the residence and charged with the following:
2 counts of Possession of Child Pornography
2 counts of Making Available Child Pornography.

He was released upon strict conditions and will be appearing in Provincial Court in Pictou at a later date.

The investigation is continuing.

In Nova Scotia, it is mandatory for citizens to report suspected Child Pornography. This means that anyone who encounters Child Pornography material or recordings must report it to the police. Failing to report suspicious activity and materials could result in penalties of failing to report child abuse set out in the Children and Family Services Act.
