RCMP arrest 25-year-old in connection with arson in Blue Mountain

Pictou County District RCMP has arrested a 25-year-old man after an arson in Blue Mountain on July 4.
Police say that on July 4, around 12:06 a.m., they received a complaint of a vehicle fire at a residence on Sherbrooke Rd. Upon responding to the call, police learned that a vehicle had been set on fire by a the 25-year-old man who had attended a party at the home earlier in the evening.
Police then received a 911 call informing them that the same individual was at another residence on Sherbrooke Road and was behaving erratically.
According to a release from police, when they arrived at the scene they found the man was brandishing a large knife and was encouraging the officers to fatally harm him. Officers continued to talk with the man, who at one point began harming himself. One of the officers then displayed a conducted energy weapon, which resulted in the man dropping the knife. He was then taken into custody without further incident.
The man was taken to hospital and later released on an undertaking. He will appear in court at a later date to face charges of arson, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats to property.
